The role

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Consultant to join our global team in the Resilience Security and Risk team. You will be responsible for scoping and delivering a range of cyber security focused engagements on globally significant major projects across a wide variety of Arup market sectors, such as airports, railways, office buildings, stadiums, energy and water projects.

To help us achieve our aspiration we’re looking for someone who is passionate about cyber security and delivering the best outcomes for our clients, with strong interpersonal and communications skills.

The role can be based in any of Arup’s UK or European offices as we embrace a flexible working strategy allowing our people to work as part of a geographically diverse and remote team. It is possible that you will need to travel to other offices or sites as and when required.

The role reports directly to the Physical Security lead within the Resilience Security and risk team (London) and will work closely with the Global Cyber Security Advisory leader located in Melbourne as well as the regional cyber security advisory teams in Europe and UK.

Responsibilities of the role include;

  • Working with clients to identify and understand their cyber security risk.
  • Managing the delivery of cyber security projects.
  • Scoping and estimating cyber security engagements for clients.
  • Assisting in responding to proposals.
  • Working with a varied set of global stakeholders and developing strong relationships.
  • Assisting in developing cyber security skills across a variety of Arup business sectors.
  • Working closely with the project and technical specialist teams to make sure cyber security requirements are understood and delivered by projects.
  • Using your skills when required to assist in protecting Arup.

Requirements and skills

  • More than four years’ experience in cyber security either as a consultant or within an organisation that operates physical assets.
  • Demonstrable skills and experience in performing cyber security risk assessments.
  • Experience in developing and implementing governance and policy.
  • Performing governance and policy reviews.
  • Ability to interpret designs to assess cyber security requirements and report to clients.
  • Successful track record in working in complex environments and projects.
  • Perform security / gap analysis reviews in line with leading industry standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to accommodate the different points of view of various stakeholders, across technical and business teams, to find common solutions and achieve business outcomes and benefits.
  • Experience in a variety of cyber security assessments including regulatory reviews, business impact analysis and business continuity assessments.
  • Strong team working skills with ability to build trusted relationships with people and groups with diverse backgrounds, and to influence at all levels.
  • Good skills in problem, issue, risk, and change management.
  • Good ability to assess risk, resolve problems, negotiate and influence.
  • Experience in procurement including specifying cyber security requirements.
  • The ability to apply and explain cyber security frameworks such as ISO27001, IEC62443 NCSC CAF and NIST Critical Infrastructure
  • An interest to develop your knowledge and understanding of one or more of our focus sectors (transport, energy, water & cities).


  • Cyber security architecture experience.
  • Experience undertaking ICS and Operational technology assessments.
  • Able to continuously improve project delivery documents and methodologies.
  • Experience in facilitating penetration tests and working with clients to understand the results.

  • 3rd level qualification, degree or equivalent in a business or technical systems related area.
  • Hold at least one Cybersecurity qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CWSP, CRISC, SABSA or be in the final year of qualifying for CISSP Certified membership.
