The short answer is, yes. If you already have a degree, you have a lot of options to choose from. You can choose to do a  apprentice degree at a postgraduate level or you can apply for an apprenticeship at the graduate level. But the field you choose should be different than your degree. Read on to know more.

As long as your apprenticeship involves updating your skills or learning new skills, you are free to apply. For example, if you hold a degree in graphics design, you cannot do an apprenticeship in the field of graphic designing. But you are free to apply for a marketing role. 

If you already have a apprentice degree and you are over the age of 24, you can still start an apprenticeship. You just need to ask your employer if they allow you to improve your skills by being an apprentice.

Even if you completed your degree a while ago, there is nothing stopping you from being an apprentice. At times, job holders want to make a career change or develop new skills. So, they can develop better skills for management and leadership positions. Therefore, they can do the right apprenticeships to achieve new qualifications. 

If you already have a degree and a job, your employer may pay for your apprenticeship. Alternatively, you can use an Advanced Learner Loan to pay for your training on the job as an apprentice. This is important if you are over the age of 24. 

Another option is to apply for an Advanced Learning Loan Bursary to cover additional costs, such as travel or childcare. 

So, yes you can apply for an apprenticeship even if you hold a degree.
